It’s not official but Madonna may be bringing her phenomenally
successful CD, Confessions on a Dance Floor, live to a venue near
you. To date, Confessions has sold nearly 1.29 million copies in the
United States alone. It continues to top sales charts in the UK, and
Madonna was recently recognized as the female artist with the most
number one hits in the UK. It seems almost certain that Madonna’s
fan base will soon be pleading for her to finalize preparations for a
Confessions tour. How do we know Madonna may be preparing
for a tour? While not coming out and making it official, she has
made some statements that hint at the possibility.

In a recent interview, Madonna spoke about some performances
she has booked for the near future. She will be performing at the
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, California, on
April 30, 2006. She said, “I am especially excited about playing
Coachella before I start my own tour.” In some interviews
Madonna even talked about her vision for her next tour, some ideas
she has for its visual presentation on the stage and what the
Confessions on a Dance Floor show will represent for her.

Madonna’s plans for her tour aren’t specifically connected to
Confessions, but when she says things such as, “I want them (the
audience) to feel like they’re inside a disco ball,” it’s hard to imagine
that her vision doesn’t involve Confessions. Other statements like, “I
want a sound system in surround and the dancers personalities to
come out” indicates that a tour for Confessions is highly likely. So
what is all this excitement about?

Confessions, the fourteenth album/CD created by Madonna, is a
mix of anything you want it to be. It’s about power and
empowerment and love and its costs. In this re-invention of
Madonna herself and the disco-era, she has come back with
possibly the best work she has ever done. There are blogs and
message boards full of comments on Confessions. “I never even
liked this woman and I have to say, this is real good stuff,” one
person noted. Other comments include, “Only Madonna could bring
back disco and dance with the popularity it had in the 1970’s.”

It has been suggested that not only will she tour but that she will
focus, as she has in the past, on dance. Wherever Madonna goes
many others follow. She wants people to “get out of their seats” in
response to the music. She wants them to “have a good time
straight through and non-stop.” Considering that one song on the
CD is a hit single and she co-wrote and co-produced Confessions
with Stuart Price, (Madonna’s musical director on her 2002
Drowned World Tour and last summer’s Reinvention Tour) one
may assume that Confessions on a Dance Floor will be a visually
extraordinary concert.

Madonna, of course, didn’t do this all by herself. The genius forces
of musicality that worked with her on Confessions will no doubt
help her make the tour just as successful as the CD. Assistance
from artisans such as Bloosdhy and Avant (Grammy winners), the
producer of Madonna’s last two albums– Mirwais Ahmadzai, and
co-writer Henrik Jonback will bring the live version of Confessions
to the stage.

Madonna’s part in producing this album comes from her fascination
with post modernism and technology. In talking about the making of
Confessions on a Dance Floor she said, “I’m trying to find the
soulfulness in technology and playing with that. I would prefer to not
have back-up singers. I would rather take my own voice and layer
it and change it and put effects on it so it sounds like a lot of
different tones and timbres.”

Madonna fans know that this artist loves her craft. She is excited
about her music and passionate about bringing it to the stage. If you
haven’t heard the entire CD yet, you are in for a treat. This is the
kind of CD that requires you either find a place to relax and just
listen or occupy a space where you can start moving. There is no
typical break between the songs. This music will make even those
that don’t dance get up and move their feet. The Mistress of Visual
Artistry herself is the only one who can bring Confessions on a
Dance Floor to life on stage. Throughout the world of music, it is
rumored that this tour could start as soon as August or September
2006. Start getting in line for tickets!

Parties and celebrations don’t need to be a simply an afternoon or just an evening. Why not make a day, or even a weekend of it?

For entertaining Children there is a massive amount of options available to keep them active for the entire day. To be honest, it can be so much easier and less stressful to take them out for the day and letting someone else organise their events instead of having all the chaos in your own home, or the hassle of booking allsorts of different suppliers.

Classic Days Out include Tourist Attractions such as Theme parks, Fun Fairs, Amusement Arcades and Activity Play Centres. A more cultured and educational, but equally as interesting day out could include visits to Art Galleries, Museums, Heritage Centres or a local Historic House. Some Zoos or Wildlife Centres are set within the grounds of a historic Mansion House. Many of these combinations are geared towards families – usually including an Adventure Playground to ensure that the children sleep well on the way home!

More energetic children (and “grown up’s”!) may wish to consider a sporting activity – many Leisure Centres can provide activities such as Football or Rugby Days, or hire out courts so you can arrange your own tournaments for Tennis, Badminton or Squash!

You could ask local sports team, for example a cricket team, to provide a days training on their professional sport. Many Golf Courses, Football Grounds or Cricket Greens have a club house to hire, so consider this if you are wanting to combine an active day out with a party supper.

There are a plethora of activities to be enjoyed on the water; take a small group out on a riverboat or punting (don’t forget the lifejackets!), or embark on a days frivolities learning to water ski or wind surf. If some calm is required, a spot of fishing could be called upon. Or just gather up your swimming costumes and enjoy a leisurely afternoon at a swimming pool.

If you’d rather get your adrenaline pumping, why not consider the air?! Many air bases cater for sky divers, parachutists and gliders. Or, if you aren’t too keen on free falling, why not take a scenic hot air balloon ride over the countryside? These rides also make brilliant birthday presents for those people who have everything, as does flying lessons. If your budget doesn’t stretch that far, there are some amazing kites available to buy and fly!

Driving experiences are always exhilarating. Choose a competitive game, such as Quad Biking or Go Karting, perhaps a trip to Silverstone to keep everyone busy. Go Karting and Quad Biking are good fun for both adults and children and no license is necessary! Solo events such as an hour driving a Ferrari or an Off Road Driving experience makes a brilliant present for that Peter Pan man in your life! For more adrenaline pumping action, how about shooting?! Clay Pigeons for the less energetic, or a mad day of Paint-balling or Laser Games for the more active!

Finding an enjoyable evening entertainment to include children can be difficult. A trip to the Cinema or Theatre can be a very welcome way to spend an evening. you get to sit down after a hectic day! If you are still feeling motivated, why not find a Bowling Alley, Bingo Hall or even a venue holding a Musical or Themed Night to stretch the evening out even longer!

There are many types of accommodation you can choose to frequent if you decide to stay away with your family. From a room in a quaint little B&B to camping in woodlands, from luxury holiday cottages to 5* hotels, there is a bed out there somewhere which is perfect for you! Many large theme parks now have associated hotels, or complexes within the grounds to make your weekend even easier, and many tourist attractions will also have recommended accommodation.

For more specifically ‘adult’ entertainment, the evening is your time to shine! Choose from Bars, Nightclubs, Casino’s or Comedy Clubs, or enjoy a more sophisticated evening of Wine Tasting. And if you have had enough and need some quality ‘me time’, remember that you can always use next weekend to hide away in a Health Spa, pampered to within an inch of your life! Free Easter Party Games and Activities
posted by: admin in Entertainment on 10 24th, 2009 | | No Comments »

Looking around for Easter party games and activities? Well there are plenty of kid’s games that you can find on the web and in party planning books. However you may wish to simply alter a few popular games to fit with the theme of the Easter party.

Remember Pin the Tail on the Donkey? That old game you used to play as a child. You can give it an update by modifying it for Easter. Instead of a donkey draw a picture of the Easter Bunny holding an empty basket. Then have the kids create their own Easter egg out of construction paper, glitter, markers and any other decoration you have on hand. Then play a fun game of Pin the Easter Eggs in the Basket. Of course you can use tape to fix the eggs to the paper. The children that actually manage to tape an egg to the basket get a plastic egg of their own filled with special treats.

Egg runs are lots of fun at outdoor parties. And both kids and adults can participate in these. Have a bunch of boiled and dyed eggs on hand and spoons. The guests can divide into teams of two and each member on the team gets a spoon and each team gets one egg. Have the members of the teams station themselves about twenty or so feet apart and one member of the team balances the egg on their spoon. At the start of the egg run the members of the teams have to ‘run’ their egg to the other member of the team, without dropping it. If they drop their eggs they have to go back to their starting place and begin again. When they reach their team member they carefully trade off the eggs and the other member must begin carrying the egg back to the beginning. If they drop an egg they have to back to the halfway point and start over again. The first team to complete the egg run is the winners.

A great way to ensure your Christmas will be remembered with warm and cherished memories is to incorporate some rituals. Adding rituals to the festivities will create fun and magic moments that will not only live in your families memories forever but will be excitedly looked forward to each year. Rituals will bring your family closer together creating joy and happiness for all!

Here is a fun ritual you could incorporate into this coming Christmas. Add some Christmas bells to the dinner table and ring them just before the festive meal is ready, calling all to attend the dinner table. Long before Christmas in the old days, bells were once rung with the assumption that the noise would chase away evil spirits. Santa Claus has jingling bells that he uses accompanying his sleigh ride around the world each year. His bells are symbols; they are jingled to remind us of the birth of new beginnings and the death of ignorance (once referred to as the devil).

Ringing bells before the meal is eaten is a wonderful reminder to push away judgments, speak no ills, and come together with a sense of joy, positivity and acceptance for one another. Make the festive meal a time where you all come together and share a positively good time. A time where only supportive words are spoken, encouragement and acknowledgement of each other is heard. Ringing the bells will remind all to keep positive, bright and joyous!

So have some fun, get yourself some jingling Christmas bells and chase away any menacing spirits or thoughts before the festive meal. You can be creative with your jingling and get your children to enjoy a brisk stroll through the house or around the dinner table as they jingle the bells joyously to ensure no menacing mischief makers will be heard on the day! The children will love this fun activity and all will enjoy the friendly reminder of the bells if anyone starts to slip up on their good attitude throughout the day!

Another ritual you could incorporate is the ‘Mistletoe Game’. This is a very old Christmas game where it was once common place to have suspended Mistletoe hung in the main room. For this game everyone would assemble in a circle around the Mistletoe. The first player (a male) has to slide a slipper and aim so it will land under the Mistletoe. If he fails another takes their turn. If he succeeds, even more fun begins as there is a scramble in the direction of the lady towards which the slipper points. She must seize the slipper and get away before being caught!

Rituals offer the opportunity for family and friends to interact in a joyous and fun manner. So why not add a few rituals to your festive day to add some fun and create great memories of a truly joyous and happy day.

What is Close-up Magic
posted by: admin in Entertainment on 09 15th, 2009 | | No Comments »

Close-up magic is magical entertainment that happens right in front of you, magic you can not only see but feel and touch. This intimacy is what makes it so different from other types of magic. An expert close-up magician will involve and interact with the audience far more than a stage magician (or any other form of entertainer for that matter).

Most close-up magicians use common props such as playing cards, coins, sponge balls and rope. And all magicians perform the same basic magical effects with these props, making them appear, disappear, change, levitate, break and restore, and penetrate other objects. What is amazing about close-up magic is that it happens so close to you, sometimes while you are holding the props!

There are many standard close-up magic effects and standard routines used to present them. For example, the ‘Ambitious Card’ where a chosen card repeatedly rises to the top position in a deck of cards without any shuffling or cutting, or the ‘Sponge Balls’ where the balls move invisibly between the magician’s hands and those of the spectator’s. In fact, these routines are freely available if you care to look. Anyone can search the internet and buy books and DVDs on close-up magic, or even the props and standard routines.

What really sets one close-up magician apart from another is how they present their magic. In fact, presentation is the key – it is what makes close-up magic entertaining. A really good, professional magician will be creative and present their magic in an original and entertaining way. Sometimes humorous, sometimes mysterious, sometimes just plain weird and freaky. The magic becomes a vehicle for the personality and ideas of the performer.

This is what makes close-up magic great entertainment. An interesting, strange and funny person demonstrates the impossible, weird and wonderful, right under your nose!

Who is Mac Dre
posted by: admin in Entertainment on 09 2nd, 2009 | | No Comments »

Mac Dre was born on the fifth of July 1970 in Oakland, he grew up in Vallejo, California and lived there most of his life.

In 1989 Mac Dre released his first album, an EP titled ‘Young Black Brotha’ it had 4 tracks on it and one track ironicly titled ‘Too Hard for the Fuckin Radio’ started getting air play in North Californian radio stations. In 1991 Mac Dre returned with ‘California Livin” and by the time he released his third album ‘Whats really goin on’(1992) his music was being played all over Vallejo and North California for that matter. In clubs and peoples cars, it looked like Mac Dre was going to reach the big time. But his hopes and dreams were snatched away from him as he was put into prison as the police believed he was behind a few bank robberys.

Mac Dre was followed 300 miles by police from the ‘Bay Area’ to Fresno, his friend was wired and recorded a conversation which he started asking Mac Dre about the bank robberys. He was sentenced to five years inprisonment in 1992 for this but he wasn’t done making albums yet. ‘Back N Da Hood’ was what his fourth album was called, it was an EP which was recorded from Fresno county Jail by phone. The album shows that Mac Dre doesn’t need lots of takes to have a song the way he wants it. In the same year he recorded some more songs over the phone and his record company made an album from them and some of his previously released songs, the album was called ‘Young Black Brotha: The Album’.

Mac Dre was released in 1995. He got on his compilation ‘The Rompilation’ which was released under his new record company ‘Romp Records’ and sold over 60,000 copies, in the Rompalation Mac Dre appears on eight tracks alongside some of his ‘homies’ such as Mac Mall, Da Unda dog and JT the Bigga Figga. After his release he started working like crazy on his albums averaging on two albums a year. His first solo release after his release from jail was called ‘Stupid Doo Doo Dumb’, the very same year he released ‘Don’t hate the Player, Hate the Game’. In the next three years that followed he released 11 albums the latest of them ‘Thizzelle Washington’ got him the most fans and respect. In 2003 he made ‘al boo boo’ which was a cd with a free dvd and he released a dvd called Treal TV. His fans loved the dvd as it opened a window into how he lived his life.

If you ask a fan of Mac Dre whats Mac Dres best album they are likly to say all of them, this shows the consistincy of his work it was all fantastic. His career in rap was not a fair one though, he never got the commercial praise he definatly deserved. In 2004 Mac Dre released three albums ‘Genie of the Lamp’, ‘Ronald Dregan: Dreganomics’ and ‘The Game is thick, Vol 2′. These albums had North California buzzing with excitment they thought this would be the man to put the spotlight back on westcoast rap.But this as of now has not happened. On November 1st 2004 Mac Dre was victim of a drive-by on Highway 71, Kansas City. The incident happened just after a concert he was doing in Kansas, the shooting was a shock, fans in Kansas enjoyed the show, noone from Kansas had any right to shoot a North Californian rapper as the Kansas City rap scene was getting respect and money from that area. When Mac Dres mother Wanda Salvatto heard about the shooting she did not believe it. This was because she was told previously her son was dead from an overdose of drugs but yet he was fine, other Vallejo residents did not believe this either and were shocked and sad when they heard that it was true. Mac Dre was buried at Moutain View Cemetary, Oakland, CA.

Now in 2005 Mac Dre has many die-hard fans and new ones too, he is still releasing albums too! ‘Da US Open’ was released on the 22nd of March it is a collaberation between Mac Dre and Mac Mall in which they pick up the alter egos ‘Andre Macassi’ and ‘Mall Macenroe’. Later ‘Money iz Motive’ was released, it wasn’t a Mac Dre solo it was an album made by the ‘Cutthoat Committee’ which Mac Dre was a part of. ‘Treal TV 2′ is currently in its final stages before its released, on top of that Mac Dres record label ‘Thizz Entertainment’ has some unreleased Mac Dre material that they will be selling in the near future. To Mac Dres fans he will always be the best rapper from the ‘Bay Area’.

Inspiration can come from many sources as far as party ideas are concerned. Many publications supply an endless stream of party ideas. Entire television series on cable are devoted to little other than decorating and party ideas.

Often party ideas can be focused to highlighting some aspect of individual character of the guest of honor or the group identity of an organization. Party ideas for High School proms or other dances can relate to popular culture elements that coalesced the group. Then after the theme is chosen party goods in colors that coordinate with aspects of the central party ideas can be chosen.

The same can be done for children’s party ideas. Young children identify very closely with certain cartoon characters and enjoy using themed party goods and decorations. To the young child using these party ideas is tantamount to inviting these entities to their party. Party ideas that can incorporate these characters further help to add to this sense of inclusion of favorite fictional personages.

Games or DVD rentals can further the chosen party ideas. Other ways to incorporate these central party ideas would be to order a cake with the party theme used for its decoration. This works in all kinds of parties for adults as well as children. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, Independence Day and Hanukah are all easy to match with appropriate party ideas and coordinating cake decorations.

Party ideas may be simple and budget conscious or complicated and high end but the outcome should always be the same. People should come together and enjoy the pleasure of one another’s company. Good party ideas are the ones that make this a memorable occasion for all the right reasons and none of the wrong ones. Party ideas which simplify the process of throwing a good party are the best.

It was just over a year ago, after the Colts lost to the Pats in their post-season contest, that Boomer Esiason said on national television, “I think maybe Peyton (Manning) is this generation’s Dan Marino.” Esiason went on to state that Manning “is a great football player, but he’s not going to get to the Super Bowl, I’m telling you, not with that defense.”

Marino, who was on the set, took umbrage at the reference and shot back, “Oh, wait a minute. I got to a Super Bowl.” Marino made a good point, but still, Esiason seemed to be on target by not blaming either quarterback for their failings but, rather, the guys on the other side of the ball-their weak defenses.

Fast forward to January 15, 2006, almost exactly a year to the date that Esiason made his comments. What was different this time for Peyton Manning and the Colts? The Colts seemed to have the full package-a great running and passing attack, a solid offensive line, and a fine defense. Everything was aligned for Manning-Mania to take full effect, especially after such a spectacular regular season.

But once again, under the glare of the national spotlight, in a huge playoff game, and under the kind of pressure he had rarely seen all season, Peyton Manning crumbled. This latest derailment of the Colt’s Super Bowl Express drew a barrage of disparaging comments from many writers and commentators, including the NY Times’ William C. Rhoden. Two days after the loss, Rhoden dubbed Manning “the king of statistics but the prince of NFL quarterbacks” in that although he can generate statistics, he may be incapable of closing the deal and ever bringing a championship to Indianapolis.

No matter how much you respect Peyton Manning and his amazing regular season performances, it’s difficult to argue with the facts. In eight seasons the Colt QB has led his team to the playoffs six times where he is 3-6. In those nine games he’s hit for 15 TDs, while throwing 8 INTs and being sacked 13 times. There are quarterbacks, most recently Tom Brady, who usually manage to rise to the occasion in the big game, ably dealing with a panoply of adversity. And then there are those like Manning, usually able to run like finely tuned, precision machines, which means when everything is copacetic they hum along but let something like a blitz throw off their rhythm and they breakdown.

Some people point out that maybe he has too much control over the offense, constantly changing and adjusting plays at the line of scrimmage, and when things go awry it’s almost impossible for Manning to adapt. Others claim that he simply can’t handle the pressure of a big game situation. Some blame others on the team. After losing to the Steelers this post-season, Peyton Manning did something he’s never done before; point the finger at his teammates.

Then there’s Peyton’s younger brother Eli, who just finished his second NFL season and his first professional post-season. Against the Carolina Panthers Eli Manning completed 10 of 18 passes, threw three interceptions, was sacked four times and lost one fumble as the Giants were humbled by their opponents 23 to zip. At one point in the game it seemed as if Eli Manning thought his job was to get the ball to the Panthers as boos echoed throughout Giants Stadium and fans hustled for the exits.

Coolness under pressure-is this a Manning characteristic? Or do Peyton and Eli share some sort of panic gene? For Eli it’s simply too early to tell and with Peyton, there’s still time left to turn the tide.

Perhaps one should ask, “What would dad and former NFL QB Archie Manning do?” There’s no answer to that question-in 15 NFL seasons Archie never came close to making it to the playoffs.

Time will tell what the true legacy of the Manning brothers will be. Dan Marino-Move over?

Party Favors are Fun Entertainment
posted by: admin in Entertainment on 06 21st, 2009 | | No Comments »

When used as either conversation starters or simply meant as crowd entertainment; party favors have a place of importance in any occasions that involve seated activity. Sometimes they have a game, toy or noise maker and often they are just snack foods. A party favor can be as basic as fortune cookies. It serves to entertain, feed and spark lively discussion.

What portion of the budget should be spent on party favors? That depends on the importance to be placed on the party favor. The party favor can really be something downloaded from the internet like a zodiac or crossword puzzle. These are great, inexpensive and serve the purpose. These kinds of favors should be scrolled and tied with ribbon and a sharpened pencil should be tucked inside.

Often times more should be spent on the party favors so that they can serve as a small gift for the guests. Then they serve the additional purpose of saying quickly “thanks” for attending. Anytime that there is a group meeting it helps if the party favors are matched to some matter that is germane to group identity.

Little hats with a flourish of ribbon for popular women’s club meetings make good favors. Trinkets or charms that compliment the theme of a club’s efforts are fine. A group which regularly raises money to plant trees and flowers community wide might enjoy charms of gardening tools, for instance.

Formal gatherings often call for more expensive party favors. Disposable cameras are very popular items for wedding receptions. The less expensive sack of grass seed for the after reception showering of the newlyweds is traditional. Mints in decorative holders or candy coated almonds are also among the budget minded options.

Party favors for graduations, holidays, birthdays or anniversaries can all be purchased especially for those occasions.

Golf ‘Fore’ Success
posted by: admin in Entertainment on 06 16th, 2009 | | No Comments »

Golf has a crazy way of telling who we truly are as a person. Many people judge us by the way we play the game. Everyone has a favorite quote they live by, whether in business or in their personal lives. Here are five humorous golf quotes that will get you thinking about what is really important in life as seen through the game of golf:

“Golf is the most fun you can have without taking your clothes off.” –Chi Chi Rodriguez

Always have something to look forward to each day. It may something you ordered by mail and are anxiously awaiting its arrival or just relaxing on a quiet Friday night cooking for yourself with some soft music. Treat yourself often. Golf has a way of taking your mind away from the daily grind.

“Golf is a game in which you yell ‘Fore’, shoot six, and write down five.”
–Paul Harvey

Never cheat yourself out of anything. If you practice that, you will less likely cheat anybody or at anything. Remember, there is always an extra pair of eyes watching what we do and how we do it, especially in organizations.

“Golf is a hard game to figure. One day you’ll go out and slice it and shank it, hit it in all the traps and miss every green. The next day you go out and for now reason at all you really stink.”
–Bob Hope

Don’t take life so seriously. Get out of your own self’s way and let things happen. There is a reason why things happen to usjust listen for the answer and don’t over analyze it. Our success in is determined by which path we take in life-follow the one that has a heart.

“If you break 100, watch your golf. If you break 80, watch your business.”
–Joey Adams

Be sure to put balance in all aspects of your life. We realistically cannot be the best at everything. Concentrate on your strengths, not your weaknesses. Most successful men and women do just that. They delegate or hire their weak areas to others. It is the same for successful organizations-they concentrate on their strengths, not their weaknesses.

“If you think it’s hard to meet new people, pick up the wrong ball.”
–Blake Lochrie

Show genuine interest in everyone you meet. Ask them about themselves instead of trying to impress them with your credentials. Remember, the top questions to ask anyone that will make a positive impression are: who, what, when, where, how, and why.
